WHEN: Days 1 - 4, Nov. 8th - 11th, 2025 (8:30am - 4:00pm) Participants attending the entire 8 day training will be given a certificate of completion.
WHEN: Days 5 - 8, April 18th - 21st, 2026 (8:30am - 4:00pm) Participants attending the entire 8 day training will be given a certificate of completion.

Cognitive Coaching℠ is a model that supports people in becoming self-directed (which includes becoming self-managing, self-monitoring, and self-modifying). While Adaptive Schools is a cornerstone approach to group collaboration, Cognitive Coaching represents a deeper dive into the skills paraphrase and posing questions while equipping individuals with mental models and maps that support mediating thinking in one-on-one and small group dialogue in the classroom, in teams and beyond. This foundation course is offered in two parts (4 days each). Days 1 - 4 focus on skill development as well as two conversation maps: planning and reflecting. Days 5 - 8 further refine skills while introducing the problem resolving map as means to support individuals in getting "unstuck."
*Note: New to Cognitive Coaching, you may choose to only register for Days 1-4, OR you may register for Days 1 - 4, as well as Days 5 - 8.
**Note: Those who have completed Cognitive Coaching Days 1 - 4 in a prior training may choose to register for only Days 5 - 8.

Presenters
WALTER BASNIGHT is the Director of Teaching & Learning at the American Community School Amman (ACS). Originally from the United States, he has worked in international schools worldwide for more than 25 years as an instructional coach and social studies teacher. Walter believes strongly in supporting individuals and groups in developing their capacity for growth. An Agency Trainer for both Adaptive Schools and Cognitive Coaching, Walter has also facilitated and presented workshops at NESA as well as the American International School Chennai.
JOELLE BASNIGHT is the Superintendent at the American Community School Amman (ACS). She has served as a teacher, counselor, and leader in international schools for more than 25 years. She is an Adaptive Schools and Cognitive Coaching Agency Trainer and has presented in the areas of leadership, mindfulness and empowering student voice. Ms Basnight believes that educational institutions thrive when individuals and groups intentionally build the collective capacity for collaboration and self-directedness in their faculty, staff, parents, and students.
